The Hidden Cost of Inefficient Brewing Machinery — How Energy-Smart Craft Brewery Equipment Saves You Thousands Every Year

The Price Tag Lie

A brewhouse with poor thermal insulation can leak 15 to 20 percent of its heating energy. Tanks with thinner walls and poor insulation leak heat constantly. Over a year, that wasted energy adds up to thousands of dollars.

A well-engineered system uses AISI 304 or 316L stainless steel with proper insulation. The interior surface finish should be Ra 0.4 μm or better, preventing bacterial adhesion and making CIP cycles shorter. Tanks with a rougher finish — Ra 0.8 μm or higher — require longer cleaning times and higher chemical concentrations.
